Terms & Conditions for Literary Magic 2010 Poetry Contest

Contest Type: Poetry (5-30 lines)
Prizes: $30 first place prize and publication; critique for first, second and third place.
Entry Fee: $3 per poem.
Deadline: December 15, 2010




Poems can be any genre.

No Erotica, please. Inappropriate content will not be considered.

All work must be original. Multiple submissions are allowed.

Length: Poems may be anywhere from 5 to 30 lines in length.

Professionalism and proper grammar are both required. Please do not send us unedited work.



Prizes: 1st Place winner receives $30 in cash, a Critique of their work by our editors and will be featured on LiteraryMagic.com’s Home page. Second and Third-Place winners all receive free Critiques of their poems and are published in Literary Magic. Honorary mentions will be considered for publication.


Note: Literary Magic only asks for one-time rights, which means you can publish your work anywhere else you like. You, as the author, retain the copyright.


How to Submit:

Fill out our Submission Form. Just add your name, e-mail and poem and click Submit! Then click the “Click here to Pay Contest Entry Fee” link where you will be directed to a secure PayPal webpage. Submit your payment, then click on the link “Return to Merchant” and you will be directed back to our website to view the Confirmation page.
Note: If you pay by credit card, the name “*ROCKYREICHM” or “Literary Magic” or our e-mail address may appear as the name on the bill.

Note: You must use the same e-mail address in the Submission Form as you did when you paid your entry fee. This allows us to confirm your entry fee and match it to your submission so we can review your work as soon as possible.


The Deadline for our 2010 Contest is December 15, 2010. No Submissions will be accepted after that date.

We encourage and welcome new as well as established writers to enter.

Poems will be judged by the Editors of Literary Magic. Winners will be selected based on the following criteria:


How effective is the poet at getting across his/her message? Is that message clearly communicated?
Writer’s use of language and literary techniques to convey the story.
Professionalism and Grammar
Imagination and poem excitement: Does it grab readers from the beginning? Keep then engaged? Does the poem teach us a lesson about a specific topic or life in general?

Literary Magic reserves the right publish winning entries in Literary Magic (LiteraryMagic.com) or in any other publication of Literary Magic. Winners will be informed before publication. Authors retain copyrights and all other rights to any work they submit.

Literary Magic reserves the right to refuse any entries that do not conform to our guidelines or are otherwise inappropriate.

Plagiarism and Spam will not be tolerated.


Refund Policy: No refunds can be given more than 30 days after submitting payment. However, if the request is made prior to that date, we will try to the best of our abilities to refund your entire payment.
